Matthew 17:19-20
RSV NAB KJV DR LV BNV
17:19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?" 17:19 Then the disciples approached Jesus in private and said, "Why could we not drive it out?" 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 17:19 Jesus said to them: Because of your unbelief. For, amen I say to you, if you have faith 1as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove from hence hither, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. 17:19 dicit illis propter incredulitatem vestram amen quippe dico vobis si habueritis fidem sicut granum sinapis dicetis monti huic transi hinc et transibit et nihil inpossibile erit vobis 17:19 Tunc accesserunt discipuli ad Iesum secreto et dixerunt: « Quare nos non potuimus eicere illum? ».
17:20 He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, `Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you." 17:20 17 He said to them, "Because of your little faith. Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 17:20 But this kind is not cast out but by prayer and fasting. 17:20 hoc autem genus non eicitur nisi per orationem et ieiunium 17:20 Ille autem dicit illis: « Propter modicam fidem vestram. Amen quippe dico vobis: Si habueritis fidem sicut
granum sinapis, dicetis monti huic: «Transi hinc illuc!», et transibit, et nihil impossibile erit vobis ».

These tools are brought to you free of charge by The Cross Reference, a Catholic blog run by Jeff Pinyan, covering a wide array of topics (from liturgy to apologetics, from study of Holy Scripture to current events). None of the content from these tools is property of The Cross Reference, and all of it is found elsewhere on the Internet already. These tools exist simply to make it easier to search the various sources represented here, as well as to further the glorification of God and the sanctification of His Church. If they contribute to any of these goals, I am pleased (and I hope He is too).

I am aware of certain gaps (lacunas) in the Douay-Rheims, Latin Vulgate, and New Vulgate texts; if you find one, feel free to email me about it so I can take care of it. I will also get around to loading the footnotes for the Douay-Rheims text.

If you found these tools useful, please let your friends, family, and local church know about them (and let me know you let them know!). If you encountered problems, have suggestions for improvements, or have questions, comments, or compliments, feel free to email the author of these tools at his gmail.com account, TheCrossReference.
