Isaiah 14:12-15
RSV NAB KJV DR LV BNV
14:12 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! 14:12 2 How have you fallen from the heavens, O morning star, son of the dawn! How are you cut down to the ground, you who mowed down the nations! 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, 1O Lucifer, who didst rise in the morning? how art thou fallen to the earth, that didst wound the nations? 14:12 quomodo cecidisti de caelo lucifer qui mane oriebaris corruisti in terram qui vulnerabas gentes 14:12 Quomodo cecidisti de caelo, lucifer, fili aurorae?
Deiectus es in terram, qui deiciebas gentes,
14:13 You said in your heart, `I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far north; 14:13 3 You said in your heart: "I will scale the heavens; Above the stars of God I will set up my throne; I will take my seat on the Mount of Assembly, in the recesses of the North. 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14:13 And thou saidst in thy heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, I will sit in the mountain of the covenant, in the sides of the north. 14:13 qui dicebas in corde tuo in caelum conscendam super astra Dei exaltabo solium meum sedebo in monte testamenti in lateribus aquilonis 14:13 qui dicebas in corde tuo:
“In caelum conscendam,
super astra Dei exaltabo solium meum,
sedebo in monte conventus
in lateribus aquilonis;
14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High.' 14:14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will be like the Most High!" 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 14:14 I will ascend above the height of the clouds, I will be like the most High. 14:14 ascendam super altitudinem nubium ero similis Altissimo 14:14 ascendam super altitudinem nubium,
similis ero Altissimo”.
14:15 But you are brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the Pit. 14:15 Yet down to the nether world you go to the recesses of the pit! 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. 14:15 But yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, into the depth of the pit. 14:15 verumtamen ad infernum detraheris in profundum laci 14:15 Verumtamen ad infernum detractus es,
in profundum laci.

These tools are brought to you free of charge by The Cross Reference, a Catholic blog run by Jeff Pinyan, covering a wide array of topics (from liturgy to apologetics, from study of Holy Scripture to current events). None of the content from these tools is property of The Cross Reference, and all of it is found elsewhere on the Internet already. These tools exist simply to make it easier to search the various sources represented here, as well as to further the glorification of God and the sanctification of His Church. If they contribute to any of these goals, I am pleased (and I hope He is too).

I am aware of certain gaps (lacunas) in the Douay-Rheims, Latin Vulgate, and New Vulgate texts; if you find one, feel free to email me about it so I can take care of it. I will also get around to loading the footnotes for the Douay-Rheims text.

If you found these tools useful, please let your friends, family, and local church know about them (and let me know you let them know!). If you encountered problems, have suggestions for improvements, or have questions, comments, or compliments, feel free to email the author of these tools at his gmail.com account, TheCrossReference.
