1 Samuel 3:11-14
RSV NAB KJV DR LV BNV
3:11 Then the LORD said to Samuel, "Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel, at which the two ears of every one that hears it will tingle. 3:11 The LORD said to Samuel: "I am about to do something in Israel that will cause the ears of everyone who hears it to ring. 3:11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. 3:11 And the Lord said to Samuel: Behold I do a thing in Israel: and whosoever shall hear it, both his ears shall tingle.
3:12 On that day I will fulfil against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 3:12 On that day I will carry out in full against Eli everything I threatened against his family. 3:12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. 3:12 In that day I will raise up against Heli all the things I have spoken concerning his house: I will begin, and I will make an end. 3:12 in die illo suscitabo adversum Heli omnia quae locutus sum super domum eius incipiam et conplebo 3:12 In die illo suscitabo adversum Heli omnia, quae locutus sum super domum eius: incipiam et complebo.
3:13 And I tell him that I am about to punish his house for ever, for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons were blaspheming God, and he did not restrain them. 3:13 I announce to him that I am condemning his family once and for all, because of this crime: though he knew his sons were blaspheming God, he did not reprove them. 3:13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 3:13 For I have foretold unto him, that I will judge his house for ever, for iniquity, because he knew that his sons did wickedly, and did not chastise them.
3:14 Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be expiated by sacrifice or offering for ever." 3:14 Therefore, I swear to the family of Eli that no sacrifice or offering will ever expiate its crime." 3:14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever. 3:14 Therefore have I sworn to the house of Hell, that the iniquity of his house shall not be expiated with victims nor offerings for ever. 3:14 idcirco iuravi domui Heli quod non expietur iniquitas domus eius victimis et muneribus usque in aeternum 3:14 Idcirco iuravi domui Heli quod non expietur iniquitas domus eius victimis et muneribus usque in aeternum ».

These tools are brought to you free of charge by The Cross Reference, a Catholic blog run by Jeff Pinyan, covering a wide array of topics (from liturgy to apologetics, from study of Holy Scripture to current events). None of the content from these tools is property of The Cross Reference, and all of it is found elsewhere on the Internet already. These tools exist simply to make it easier to search the various sources represented here, as well as to further the glorification of God and the sanctification of His Church. If they contribute to any of these goals, I am pleased (and I hope He is too).

I am aware of certain gaps (lacunas) in the Douay-Rheims, Latin Vulgate, and New Vulgate texts; if you find one, feel free to email me about it so I can take care of it. I will also get around to loading the footnotes for the Douay-Rheims text.

If you found these tools useful, please let your friends, family, and local church know about them (and let me know you let them know!). If you encountered problems, have suggestions for improvements, or have questions, comments, or compliments, feel free to email the author of these tools at his gmail.com account, TheCrossReference.
